หมวด ๔ พ่อแม่อุปถัมภ์

๘๙๒ เท่าที่ทำได้ ให้ผู้รับศีลกำลังมีพ่อแม่อุปถัมภ์ ซึ่งมีหน้าที่เอาใจใส่ให้ผู้รับประพฤติตนเป็นพยานที่แท้จริงของพระคริสต์ และปฏิบัติหน้าที่อันเนื่องมาจากศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประการนี้ อย่างซื่อสัตย์ครบถ้วน

๘๙๓ วรรค ๑ เพื่อให้ใครๆ สามารถทำหน้าที่เป็นพ่อแม่อุปถัมภ์ได้ เขาต้องปฏิบัติเงื่อนไขต่างๆ ตามที่ระบุไว้ในมาตรา ๘๗๔

วรรค ๒ เป็นการสมควรให้ผู้ที่รับหน้าที่เป็นพ่อแม่อุปถัมภ์ศีลล้างบาป มาเป็นพ่อแม่อุปถัมภ์ศีลกำลังด้วย

    
Can. 892 As far as possible the person to be confirmed is to have a sponsor. The sponsor’s function is to take care that the person confirmed behaves as  a true witness  of  Christ and faithfully fulfils the duties inherent in this sacrament.

Can. 893 $1.  A person who would undertake the office of sponsor must fulfil the conditions mentioned in Can. 874.
