หมวด ๒ วันทำการใช้โทษบาป

Can.1249 All members of the Christian faithful in their own way are bound to do penance in virtue of divine law; in order that all may be joined in a common observance of penance, penitential days are prescribed in which the Christian faithful in a special way pray, exercise works of  piety and  charity,  and  denythemselves by fulfilling their responsibilities more faithfully and especially by observing fast and abstinence according to the norm of the following canons.

Can.1250 All Fridays through the year and the time of Lent are penitential days and times throughout the universal Church.

Can.1251 Abstinence from eating meat or another food according to the prescriptions of the conference of bishops is to be observed on Fridays throughout the year unless they are solemnities; abstinence and fast are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on the Friday of the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Can.1252 All persons who have completed their fourteenth year are bound by the law of abstinence; all adults are bound by the law of fast up to the beginning of their sixtieth year. Nevertheless, pastors and parents are to see to it that minors who are not bound by the law of fast and abstinence are educated in an authentic sense of penance.

Can.1253 It is for the conference of bishops to determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinenceand to substitute in whole or in part for fast and abstinence other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety.

มาตรา ๑๒๔๙ คริสตชนทุกคน แต่ละคนด้วยวิธีของตนเอง มีพันธะต้องทำการใช้โทษบาป โดยกฎหมายของพระเจ้า อย่างไรก็ดี เพื่อให้คริสตชนทั้งหมดร่วมกันทำการใช้โทษบาป จึงได้กำหนดวันใช้โทษบาปขึ้น ซึ่งในวันเหล่านั้น คริสตชนอุทิศตนเป็นพิเศษ เพื่อภาวนา ปฏิบัติกิจศรัทธาและกิจเมตตา ปฏิเสธตนเองโดยทำ

หน้าที่ของตนอย่างซื่อสัตย์ยิ่งขึ้น และเป็นต้น โดยการถือศีลอดอาหารและอดเนื้อ ตามกฎเกณฑ์ของมาตราต่อไปนี้

มาตรา ๑๒๕๐ วันและเวลาทำการใช้โทษบาป ในพระศาสนจักรสากล คือ ทุกวันศุกร์ตลอดปี และเทศกาลมหาพรต

มาตรา ๑๒๕๑ การอดเนื้อ หรือการอดอาหารอย่างอื่น ตามข้อกำหนดของสภาพระสังฆราช ต้องถือทุกวันศุกร์ตลอดปี เว้นแต่วันฉลองใหญ่ตกเป็นวันศุกร์ ส่วนการอดเนื้อและการอดอาหารต้องถือในวันพุธรับเถ้า และในวันศุกร์แห่งมหาทรมาน และการสิ้นพระชนม์ของพระสวามีเยซู   คริสตเจ้าของเรา

มาตรา ๑๒๕๒ ผู้ที่มีอายุครบสิบสี่ปี (๑๔ ปี) บริบูรณ์ ต้องถือกฎการอดเนื้อ ส่วนผู้ที่มีอายุเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ต้องถือกฎการอดอาหารจนถึงอายุเริ่มหกสิบปี (๖๐ ปี) กระนั้นก็ดี ผู้อภิบาลวิญญาณ และบิดามารดาต้องเอาใจใส่ให้ผู้เยาว์ที่แม้ไม่ถูกบังคับให้ถือกฎ การอดเนื้อ และการอดอาหาร เพราะอายุยังน้อย ได้รับการอบรมถึงความหมายแท้ของการใช้โทษบาป

มาตรา ๑๒๕๓ สภาพระสังฆราช สามารถกำหนดให้ชัดแจ้งยิ่งขึ้นเกี่ยวกับการอดเนื้อและการอดอาหารและกำหนดรูปแบบอื่นๆ

ของการใช้โทษบาป เป็นต้น เกี่ยวกับการปฏิบัติกิจเมตตา และกิจศรัทธา เพื่อทดแทนการอดเนื้อ และการอดอาหารทั้งหมด หรือเป็นบางส่วน
