ลักษณะ ๓ ศีลมหาสนิท

Can. 897 The most august sacrament is the blessed Eucharist, in which Christ the Lord himself is contained, offered and received, and by which the Church continually lives and grows. The eucharistic Sacrifice, the memorial of the death and resurrection of the Lord, in which the Sacrifice of the cross is for ever perpetuated, is the summit and the source of all worship and christian life. By means of it the unity of God’s people is signified and brought about, and the building up of the body of Christ is perfected. The other sacraments and all the ecclesiastical works of the apostolate are bound up with, and directed to, the blessed Eucharis.

Can. 898 Christ’s faithful are to hold the blessed Eucharist in the highest honour. They should take an active part in the celebration of the most august Sacrifice; they should receive the sacrament with great devotion and frequently, and should reverence it with the greatest adoration. In explaining the doctrine of this sacrament, pastors of souls are assiduously to instruct the faithful about their obligation in this regard.

๘๙๗ ศีลมหาสนิทเป็นศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่น่าเคารพบูชาสูงสุด ในศีลนี้ พระเยซูเจ้าเองสถิตอยู่ ถูกถวายและถูกรับ ด้วยศีลนี้ พระศาสนจักรเจริญชีวิตและเติบโตขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง การบูชาศีลมหาสนิทเป็นอนุสรณ์การสิ้นพระชนม์ และการกลับคืนชีพของพระเจ้า ในบูชานี้ การบูชาบนไม้กางเขนดำเนินไปตลอดกาล ทั้งยังเป็นจุดสุดยอด และบ่อเกิดของคารวกิจทั้งมวลกับชีวิต  คริสตชน การบูชานี้หมายถึง และก่อให้เกิดความเป็นหนึ่งของประชากรของพระเป็นเจ้า และสร้างพระวรกายของพระคริสต์ให้สมบูรณ์ อันที่จริง ศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประการอื่นๆ และงานแพร่ธรรมทั้งหมดของพระศาสนจักรสัมพันธ์กันแนบแน่นกับศีลมหาสนิท และมีจุดหมายมุ่งสู่ศีลนี้

๘๙๘ คริสตชน ต้องให้ความเคารพสูงสุดต่อศีลมหาสนิท ควรมีส่วนร่วมอย่างมีบทบาทในการเฉลิมฉลองศีลบูชาที่น่าเคารพนี้ ควรรับศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์นี้อย่างศรัทธาที่สุดและบ่อยๆ ควรแสดงความเคารพบูชาอย่างสูงสุดต่อศีลนี้ ผู้อภิบาลวิญญาณต้องเอาใจใส่สอนสัตบุรุษเกี่ยวกับหน้าที่นี้ เวลาสอนคำสอนเรื่องศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประการนี้
